Unisex
Our largest category, and genuinely the most interesting one. Traditional Arabian perfumery never divided fragrance by gender in the first place — oud, amber, rose and saffron were worn by everyone. Most of the compositions here are simply following that convention rather than hedging.

How much do the labels actually matter?
Less than the packaging suggests. Two things matter more.
Sweetness level. This is the real dividing line in the Lattafa catalogue, and it cuts across gender labels entirely. A “masculine” gourmand can be sweeter than a “feminine” woody. If you know whether you like sweet or dry, you’ll choose better than by reading the label.
Projection. Some Lattafa releases are extremely loud regardless of category. If you work in a shared office or commute on public transport, that matters far more than whether the bottle says pour homme.

Buying as a gift
Gender categories are most useful when you’re buying for someone else and working with limited information. A few practical points.

Two things worth checking before you buy
